Every year, in the spring time we istanbullians and all other Turks make a damn good feast out of that festival. Most films shown here will be the most thrilling pieces of this year. But I’m not talking films for the masses; the good, quality films that is seem to be live forecasted from life itself. Also if you have a chance to empty that two weeks you may have a chance to view nearly a hundred film with a good budget because films that is shown at 11.00, 13.30 and 16.00 are 2.5 ytl (1.75 $ or 1.3 euro) so that is fantastic if you have that free time. In Turkey people watches horrible shows on Tv at that times, especially the housewifes, it would be a wise decision to force them (yes, somebody should force them, if it is not Kuşum Aydın will be the choice of theirs :) ).

So enough of that, I want to talk about the films I choose to go, because I have to work, my agenda is limited, I will only going to 7 films at all, but that 7 films are worth the whole summer for me.

I am starting with Tales from Earthsee (Gedo Senki) .

If you have read Ursula Le Guin you must have known these trilogy(comes the fourth, fifth and extra books but it is originally a trio). And if you know Hayao Miyazaki than you will also love his son Miyazaki Goro . Think your favourite novel animated by Miyazakis, that is one in a million so I wouldn’t have missed it too.

I just found out that two of my films overlapped, damn how can this be. And now I am thinking of that, which one should I go?

First one is Pan’s Labyrinth of Guillermo del Toro, who was the director of Hellboy and Blade.

But don’t wait a superhero, comic book film again, that film is ridicoulously different from others, and think of his extraordinary camera views and all other things.

And the other one is Paprika of Kon Satoshi(Tokyo Godfathers, Millennium Actress, and Perfect Blue),

I remembered that in the trailer it says something like that : seeing where japan animes going you can see how american animes are pathetic.

So this trailer reminds me the very known ghost in the shell, metropolis and a less known series Serial Experiments Lain .

Which I choose is (sadly one must be choosed, isn’t it, don’t blame me) Pan’s Labyrinth, because I have two other animes to watch. (Crying on my knees and punching the carpet)

Ok now, what makes you surprised and happy. Me if you are asking a concept of a web site, something I adored is come out to be also filmed and be in that “feast”ival. It is a balance, isn’t it? Because god or who is responsible for that fate things would not give all I want, but I am happy that there is only Paprika (again on my knees punching the carpet and crying) left behind.

What is that film you ask and I say that “I’m a cyborg but that’s ok”, no I’m not crazy that is the name of the film. Sai Bo Gu Ji Man Gwen Chan A .

cyborg

Damn my bad joke and come over, the website I am talking about is here. The director is Park Chan-Wook. I can’t wait to see it, I remember Garden States and how I enjoyed so I am expecting something like that, I can feel it.
